Abstract：This thesis is based on the comparative study of translation quality of political text, using Report on the Work of the Government (2018) as research object. This thesis is going to compare the human translation version’s quality with the GNMT version. Political text plays an important role in international communication so it requires to be translated as faithfully as possible. Meanwhile, Newmark proposed in his book that political text is hard to be well translated and translators need to be faithful to the original author and conform to the linguistic and cultural characteristics of source language.

Therefore, the difficulty of translation of political text poses great challenges towards the translation quality of GNMT. After the comparison of the quality of Human Translation and Neural Machine Translation (which is the latest achievement of machine translation), this thesis concluded that Google Neural Machine Translation could not take on the translation task of political text alone.

摘要 ：文将以 2018 年政府工作报告为研究对象，对其政治文本的人工翻译版本和 谷歌神经网络翻译版本的翻译质量进行比较研究。在国际交往中，政治文本起到 着非常重要的作用。所以对与政治文本的翻译，一定要尽可能的忠实于原文。同 时，纽马克在其著作中提出，政治文本的翻译是困难的，译者需要忠实于原作者， 译文符合原文的语言文化特征。

因此，政治文本的难以翻译给机器翻译的翻译质量提出了极大的挑战。本文 在比较人工翻译以及谷歌神经网络翻译（机器翻译的最新成果）对于政治文本的 翻译质量后，得出了谷歌神经网络翻译技术不能单独承担政治文本的翻译工作这 一结论。

1.Introduction

Today’s world is developing at a dazzling speed. So we need a more efficient and cheaper way to handle with the huge amount of information, which needs to be translated. The invention of computer enflames human’s enthusiasm of developing an easier way of translation under the help of computer.

Globalization makes the communications between countries more frequent than before, accompanying the development of international diplomacy. Meanwhile, the development of technology brings the progress of translation methods.
