When it comes to the area of educational application, multimedia can be defined as “the feeling by providing three-dimensional imitation through the audio-visual sensory and its operating functions”. It consists of three parts: virtual reality, electronic publishing and hypermedia. Virtual Reality is defined as an interactive man-made world created by multimedia computers, which makes people to have an authentic experience possible. Then electronic publishing refers to the electronic multimedia resources published available on the network, which provides learners a good deal of information by multimedia-based computers. Node and link consist of the basic structure of hypermedia. Node is used for storing different information and its scope ranges from text, image, and graphic to a clip of video recording. And link is used for presenting the relationships between different information, which lead to image, text, graphic and audio-visual effect, and hypermedia becomes interactive between computers, and thus develops into a non-linear-system-a network environment.
Therefore, by integrating texts, graphics, images animations, audios and videos in a perse creative manner, multimedia reaches the goals to create more authentic English learning environment, and to produce more practices for students.
