Abstract：Francis Scott Fitzgerald (1896-1940) was one of the most significant American novelists in the 1920s. And he was the spokesman of the Jazz Age and the representative writer of the Lost Generation. Published in 1925, The Great Gatsby achieved great success. And that was the peak of Fitzgerald’s writing career, which laid a solid basis for his status in the modern American literature. In this novel, Fitzgerald wrote from a bystander’s point of view and described the true aspects of American society in the 1920s in a detailed way. The Great Gatsby is a typical tragicomedy about the illusion and disillusion of American Dream. The Great Gatsby uses a great deal of metaphor in colors, characters, etc. The success of this novel lies not only in its profound themes, but also in its unique application of metaphor. Among them, the metaphor of colors is the one to which has been paid the most attention and is the most successful. Color metaphor is the most important feature of this novel. In Wu Ningkun’s translation，the metaphorical meanings of the color images play a great role in developing the storyline, shaping characters, expressing thoughts and feelings, highlighting the theme, and promoting target readers’ understanding. So this thesis focuses on the translation of metaphorical meanings of color images in The Great Gatsby, and expounds the metaphorical meanings of color images in line with the theme of the novel based on a careful reading.

试析《了不起的盖茨比》中颜色意象的隐喻意义的翻译

摘  要：弗朗西斯·司各特·菲茨杰拉德（1896-1940）是20 世纪美国最杰出的小说家之一，他是“爵士时代”的发言人和“迷惘的一代”的代表作家。《了不起的盖茨比》于1925 年出版，取得了极大成功，这是菲茨杰拉德写作生涯的顶峰，奠定了他在现代美国文学史上的地位。在这部小说中，菲茨杰拉德以旁观的角度和细微的手法真切地描绘出了20世纪20代美国社会的真实面貌，这是一部典型的“美国梦”的实现与幻灭的悲喜剧。隐喻手法的运用是该小说的一大艺术特色，尤其是色彩隐喻。《了不起的盖茨比》巫宁坤译本中，大量色彩的隐喻意义在展开故事情节、塑造人物性格、表达思想感情、突出主题，促进译文读者理解上起到了很大作用。所以本文重点论证《了不起的盖茨比》中运用的色彩的隐喻意义的翻译，在对文本进行细读的基础上，通过翻译来阐述作品色彩的隐喻意义与作品主题。
